THE HUB CITY OF ASIAN CULTURE

As a city rich in culture and arts, Gwangju has given birth to numerous forms of art. As a result, the national government completed the hub city of Asian culture project to build cultural ties and establish a forum of exchange with various countries of Asia. Gwangju is also known as "the artists' town" as it nurtured well-known figures in Korean traditional painting, Western painting, Korean traditional folk music, Chinese modern music, Korean poetry, etc.

ASIA CULTURE CENTER(ACC)

The Asia Culture Center is a global cultural center that provides venues for cultural exchanges in Asia. The ACC consists of 5 divisions (ACC Cultural Exchange, ACC Theater, etc.) creating an interrelated ring as Asia's greatest culture complex. The ACC also provides opportunities for visitors to enjoy the arts and culture of Asia.

GWANGJU BIENNALE

The Gwangju Biennale is one of the biggest contemporary art exhibitions in the world. The Biennale was founded in 1995, in commemoration of the year of fine art and the 50th anniversary of the nation's independence. As it received more and more international attention, it strives to express the spirit of community and democracy at a greater level. Visual arts expand the breadth of cultures, like no other medium can achieve.

GWANGJU WORLD KIMCHI FESTIVAL

Gwangju World Kimchi Festival is dedicated to informing the international community of the nation's signature Kimchi, from its history to its role in shaping Korean lifestyle and culture. Programs include exhibitions, educational activities, research, making kimchi and more. In the process, you will learn the importance of community in Korean culture.

GWANGJU WORLD YOUTH FESTIVAL

Gwangju World Youth Festival commemorates the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade, an international multi-sport event organised for University Athletes. Gwangju World Youth Festival is a sports and cultural event festival, held every July at May 18 Democratic Plaza in the Asia Culture Center. Street food, and pop-up stalls fill the streets of Geumnam-ro.
